Why choose POGS?
What makes POGS headphones unique?
POGS headphones are specifically designed in-house for the next generation, targeting specific requirements for young people. Safety, exploration and sustainability are key to our brand and products. All feedback we receive on our products is taken on board and drives further product improvements. All of this make POGS headphones the safest headphones on the market with lasting quality & comfort. POGS are also the more sustainable choice as we actively work to reduce our negative impact on nature where we
can, while also driving positive impact through reforestation.
For which ages are POGS headphones suitable?
POGS headphones are designed for the next generation. The Gecko and The Elephant have been designed for kids between the ages of 3 and 12, but older children can also use and enjoy them.
The Turtle headphones are larger and designed for ages from 7 and up. They are actually large enough for adults to wear them as well, so you can keep on enjoying The Turtle for a long time.
All POGS headphones have a limited maximum volume of 85 dB, which is recommended for sensitive ears. And actually, we’d all be better off not exceeding that level.
Are these headphones suitable for young kids as well?
POGS headphones are designed for kids from the age of 3 years and older. We do not recommend using headphones at all for kids younger than the age of 3 years.

Safety
Can my child safely use POGS headphones without risk of hearing damage?
We believe POGS headphones to be the safest headphones available. We limit the volume to 85dB, as per the World Health Organization’s recommendations, and have had our products tested extensively to ensure they comply. And the latest POGS-Safe technology, also incorporated in the cables, also ensures this maximum level for devices with a higher output level.
To protect your kids’ hearing, while using POGS and in life, please lower the volume and reduce listening time. The POGS app allows you to lower the maximum wireless volume for The Turtle and The Gecko 2 to make sure no damage is done.
At which volume level can I listen safely to content through the headphones without time limits?
While 85 dB is considered to be the maximum safe listening volume, you should restrict listening at this volume to 3.5 hours per week. At a volume of 70 dB or below, there is no time restriction. With the POGS app, the maximum volume can be set at levels between 70 and 85 dB for wireless use.
What is the difference between POGS-Safe audio cables and ‘regular’ audio cables?
POGS-Safe cables have unique technology built in to ensure that volumes do not exceed 85 dB. To get a bit more technical, the 85 dB maximum is usually measured at a pre-defined device output level. However, many modern devices, like phones and tablets, have higher output levels resulting in volumes exceeding 85 DB. The POGS-Safe cables prevent this from happening as these limit the volume level further considering the
higher device output levels.
Are POGS headphones made from safe materials?
All materials used in POGS are non-toxic and non-animal based. We do not use risky chemicals like BPA or BFR. We have dug up the strictest of regulations, from for instance the European Union and the State of California, and made sure that none of the listed materials of concerns are included in our products, even if they are allowed in small amounts.
Are there known health risks of using Bluetooth headphones?
No known health risks have been conclusively linked to Bluetooth headphones, and extensive studies have been conducted on this topic. Bluetooth headphones operate at very low levels of power and emit non-ionizing radiation, similar to Wi-Fi. The maximum power output of Bluetooth headphones is several hundred times lower than that of cell phones and also significantly lower than Wi-Fi devices. This non-ionizing radiation does not carry enough energy to ionize atoms or molecules, nor does it significantly heat tissues, meaning it doesn’t damage tissue.
Extensive research has been conducted on the health effects of non-ionizing radiation. To date, the majority of studies have not found a consistent link between low-level non-ionizing radiation exposure (such as from Bluetooth devices) and adverse health effects. The World Health Organization (WHO) and other health agencies continue to monitor new research to ensure safety.
Does the cable of the wired headphones unplug?
All POGS cables unplug from the headphones. By removing them for storage, the cables will last longer. It is also important for the cables to release quickly if they get caught on
something, for the safety of your child as well as your devices. As the cables are detachable, you can replace them if needed so you can enjoy your POGS headphones for longer in case the cables get damaged.
Sustainability
POGS states that it is designed to care for our planet, but what does that mean?
At POGS, we aim to reduce the impact we have on the planet, as well as have some positive impact. Our products are made with recycled plastics, from Fairtrade organic cotton or recycled cardboard. All our packaging is fully made from recycled materials, and we do not use single-use plastics. The manufacturing of our headphones is waste-free, meaning that all excess materials are recycled. No animals are hurt in the production of our products, or for the materials used in our products. To have some positive impact, we also invest 10% of our profit into reforestation projects.
Why aren't the cables included with The Turtle and The Gecko 2?
Cables are excluded to reduce impact on the environment. Who doesn’t have a drawer with many unused cables? To prevent more perfectly good cables going to waste, we excluded them from the headphones. If you want them anyway, just order them as a bundle together with the headphones. The bundle discount, together with the lower price of the headphones means you won’t be paying more either.
Buying accessories as a bundle with the headphones, not only gives you a discount, it also avoids extra transportation which reduces impact on the environment.
You claim to use recycled materials and organic cotton, how can we be sure this is true?
Fair question, as many claims are unsubstantiated. We make sure there is a proper chain of custody in place for the materials that we use. For the recycled plastics used in the headphones, we have secured TüV-certificates confirming the material is post-consumer recycled material. TüV is a German-based world-renowned testing service provider adhering to the strictest standards.
The material used in The Wallaby and The Kangaroo we have GOTS-certification, the worldwide leading standard for organic cotton.
If you have any queries, or would like to see our certificates, please contact us. We do not post these on our websites as they also contain confidential supply information that we would rather keep to ourselves.
Why don't you have a hardshell travel case for your headphones?
We were not able to find a sustainable source of recycled material for a hardshell case that we felt comfortable with when considering the impact on the environment. Our quest for sustainable materials led us to develop The Wallaby & The Kangaroo, which are made of 100% Fairtrade organic cotton. This material is GOTS-certified, ensuring it is actually what we say it is.

How does Noise Cancelling work on The Turtle?
To understand noise cancelling, we need to distinguish between lower and higher frequency sounds. Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) reduces lower frequency sounds, like the bass in a song, air conditioner or car. Passive Noise Cancelling (PNC) reduces higher frequency sounds, like birds, sirens, or high pitched shouting. While the combination reduces the ambient noise from the surroundings, it will never be completely drowned out, which is also considered undesirable from a safety perspective.
ANC reduces the lower frequency sounds up to mid-range (80-800 Hz). The ANC function on The Turtle reduces lower frequency sounds by -18 dB. Actively hearing the difference
between the ANC function being on and off can be difficult, especially as it is less effective to higher frequency sounds. For a good real-life test to actively hear the impact of ANC, wear the headphones in the car when not driving yourself and with the car radio off. Turn the ANC on and off and you will hear a clear difference with ANC reducing the lower frequency sounds.
PNC reduces the higher frequencies and is delivered by the over-ear ear cushions. These are made with memory foam to seal comfortably around the ears. The Passive Noise Cancelling of The Turtle is measured at -82%.
Combining Active and Passive Noise Cancelling, The Turtle allows for a more relaxed and focused hearing experience by tackling both lower and higher frequencies of ambient noise.
Do POGS headphones require batteries to work?
POGS 'The Elephant', the wired model, works without batteries at all. The wireless
models, POGS 'The Gecko 2' and ‘The Turtle’, have internal non-removable batteries
that can be charged via USB-C. These models can also be used with the audio cable if the battery is too low. For optimal listening safety, please use the POGS-Safe Turtle cable for The Turtle, and the POGS-Safe cable for The Gecko 2. These cables are not included but can be bought at a discounted rate as a bundle together with your headphones.
How do I connect my wireless POGS (The Gecko 2 orThe Turtle) to my device (phone, tablet or laptop)?
Make sure your Bluetooth® is switched on for your device. Press the pairing mode button on your POGS headphones (the one between the cable jack and the LED light) for 5 seconds and the name of your POGS will appear on your device. Select it and you will be connected.
Can I rename my POGS for setting up Bluetooth connections?
You can change the name of The Turtle as well as The Gecko 2 to make it easier to select your POGS when setting up Bluetooth connections, especially if you have more than one pair of POGS.
Depending on the device, you can change the name of your POGS after you have established the connection. Please see instruction for your device and/or operating system for instructions.
You can also use the POGS app to change the name. After you have connected your POGS to your device, and installed the POGS app, please open the POGS app and search for your POGS. Select your POGS, and you will get to the home screen. In the top right you can select settings in which you can change the name of your POGS. After changing it, you will need to reconnect by first holding the pairing button on the POGS for 5 seconds, for it to appear under its new name in the Bluetooth menu on your device.
How do I share music from one device between two pairs of headphones?
You can share music between POGS headphones of the same model, this guide shows you how for the various models of POGS headphones.
For The Turtle and The Gecko 2, you can share music wirelessly. Look through the instruction videos and user manuals for instructions.
For The Elephant, and the first generation of The Gecko, you can share music with the POGLink cable, this is also explained in the user manual.
Can I share music between different models of POGS headphones?
Please have a look at this guide on how to share music between POGS headphones.
If you want to share music between different models, you can do so by using the POGS-Splitter and POGS-Safe audio cables. Simply connect the POGS-Spitter to your device, and insert the audio cables into the POGS-Splitter and into your headphones.
It is possible to share music between The Elephant and the first generation The Gecko by using the POGLink cable.
What if I want to connect more than 2 POGS headphones?
For wired music sharing, it is possible to connect more than 2 headphones by creatively using the POGLink and audio cables as described below. You cannot connect more than two headphones for wireless music sharing.
To connect more than two headphones of The Elephant (and The Gecko first generation), connect the two headphones first using the POGLink cable (triangular plug in triangular jack). Then connect the third headphones with the audio cable (round plug in round jacks). For the fourth one, once again use a POGLink cable (triangular plug), and so on. Make sure the round plugs go into the round holes and the triangular plugs go into the triangular holes. Make sure you press the plugs firmly into the jacks.
Connecting more than two headphones of different models together, is also possible using multiple POGS-Splitter and audio cables. Insert the POGS-Splitter into your device, and attach one pair of headphones using an audio cable. Insert a second POGS-Splitter into the other, empty, jack of the first POGS-Splitter. Now you can connect two more headphones by inserting two audio cables into the second POGS-Splitter. Continue this
approach if you wish to connect more headphones together.
I lost my cables or they were damaged. Can I get new ones?
Our cables can easily be replaced as they are all detachable to extend the lifetime of your headphones. You can easily order new cables to continue to enjoy your POGS headphones for a long time.
Using the POGS app
Do you need to install the POGS app to use POGS headphones?
The POGS app is not needed to enjoy your POGS headphones. The POGS app unlocks extra features for the wireless models The Turtle and The Gecko 2. These features include changing the maximum volume level of the headphones allowing longer listening time at lower max volumes. You can change the sound settings, as well as set a timer for the headphones to switch off. You can also change the name of your headphones in the app to make it easier to select the headphones to connect to if you have several POGS headphones. You can see the battery level, and adjust volume. You can even control the headphones from a different device than the device content is being streamed from.
Does the POGS app work with all POGS headphones?
The POGS app works on the latest generation of wireless POGS headphones, which are The Turtle and The Gecko 2. As the app works through Bluetooth, the headphones need Bluetooth functionality. As a result, the app does not work with The Elephant wired headphones. The app does not work with the first generation wireless headphones (The Gecko) as this product has an older chipset that lacks the capabilities.
How do I control the headphones with the app from a second device?
You can control The Turtle and The Gecko 2 with the POGS app from a second device, other than the one you are streaming content from. For this, you will need connect the headphones to the second device with Bluetooth, and then add the headphones in the POGS app. Then press the Bluetooth pairing button on the headphones for 5 seconds, to pair it with the device you want to stream from. The primary Bluetooth connection is then established between the headphones and the streaming device. If you open the POGS app on the second device, and connect to the headphones, you can control the headphones for functions like volume, timer, equalizer and max volume settings.
